Vocation Director
The Vocation Director is the contact person and "walks" with the
individual who is discerning a vocation. Everyone experiences the
anxieties and confusion entailed in discerning God's Will in life. The
Vocation Director is the initial link to the Congregation. Sister can
answer some of your questions and she will act as guide to help you
focus.
Sr. Lois Ann, O.Carm
Postulant & Temporary Vow Director
The Postulant Director accompanies the new member during the first year of religious formation. She introduces the new Postulant to the life, practices, and spirituality of the Congregation. She works with her on a daily basis and makes herself available for guidance and directions. The Postulant director accompanies the Postulant on her six months mission in one of the Congregation's facilities.
The
Director of Temporary Vows accompanies the newly Professed Sister as
she continues on her spiritual journey after professing vows and is
assigned to one of our
mission houses, where she will gain further experience in integrating
the spiritual and apostolic aspect of our lives as Carmelite Sisters for
the Aged and Infirm.
Sr. Helena of Mary, O.Carm
Novice Director
The Novice Director guides the novice in her journey of adjusting to religious life and exploring with the novices on a deeper level what it means to be a member of our Carmelite Congregation. The Novice Director, along with experienced priests and other qualified speakers, gives classes on the Rule and Constitutions, the Vows of Obedience, Chastity and Poverty, Scripture, Prayer, Liturgy, Christian Doctrine, Vatican II documents, spiritual growth and development.
Dear Sisters, I was dubious of the Lifetime Sisterhood series, but you have done a great job in conveying the reality of religious life as well as some of the reasons for the existence of a relative vocation crisis. It has been a pleasure "meeting you" through the series. Thanks for deciding to do this and making such a good job of it! Sister Laurel O'Neal, Er Dio, Stillsong Hermitage, Diocese of Oakland.
