Sr. Lois Ann Wetzel, O.Carm |
Sr. Lois Ann Wetzel, our new Postulant Director, comes from
Cincinnati, Ohio. Sister is a Registered
Nurse by training. While attending
college, she worked in St. Margaret Hall, one of the Sisters facilities, and
came to know the Carmelite Sisters. “I
grew to love working with the elderly in the facility. After graduating from college, I would visit
the home and volunteer to be with the residents. I had always wanted a career in Science since
I was a child, and became fascinated with the natural world, the heavens, and
living things. Though I had studied
Science, and acquired a degree in Biology, I decided to return to school and to
get a degree in nursing. I could not
imagine doing anything else but nursing and caring for the residents as a
Carmelite sister. The love and
compassion received by the Residents from the Sisters and Staff made a strong
and lasting impression on me. God has a
way of calling where He wants us to be and where the deepest desires of our
heart will be fulfilled.”
Sr. Lois entered the Congregation after receiving her
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She is
still connected to the natural world.
She loves nature, bird watching, hiking and enjoying the beauty the Lord
gives us to enjoy every day.
Sr. Lois recently completed her studies at the Institute of Religious
Formation at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. She recently transferred to St. Teresa's Motherhouse to begin her duties as
Postulant Director. “It is a privilege to walk
with others on their journey with the Lord and to help them learn of our
beautiful way of life and the treasures of Carmel.”
